I exist

I Exist Book Cover Featured

Design of a book cover for the Ukrainian poet and musician Dima Golick.

Project: In 2020 Dima self-published his first collection of poems. He wanted the cover art to be reflective of his philosophical and spiritual verses yet illustrate the name of the book “Я просто есть” (literally. “I simply exist”).

Outcome: The final illustration is based on the author himself but also depersonalized. It is a person beyond race or religion, deep in his thoughts and contemplative on where he is. Both illustration and typography transcribe simplicity, clarity and peacefulness.

  • Besides being a very talented designer and a great person, Darya has an important skill to listen carefully and understand her customer’s needs and expectations.

Darya is always attentive to details and to feedback which helps her to provide great outcomes in a short period of time. I highly recommend working with Darya if you need graphic design, illustration, or if you simply want to work with an empathetic and nice person.

If the wind blows hard

Music Cover
If the wind blows hard

A cover art for “If The Wind Blows Hard” single by the duo Unpronounceable Surnames.

If the wind blows hard put on your coat
Let rainfall on your umbrella’s cloak
In the puddles like Jacques Ives Cousteau
Float by all the voids …

This sad and reflective song is like an acoustic version of the short autumn days with their early sunsets and gloomy mornings when you don’t feel like leaving your warm bed and get up into the cold reality.

  • We’re very happy with the album artwork that Darya developed for our single “If The Wind Blows Hard”.

She was very thorough in approaching the song lyrics meaning and offered us several concepts to choose from. We are delighted with this collaboration and will definitely approach Darya the next time we have a release for the new beautiful album cover.

Monsters

Illustration

No one knows by now how the monsters were born. Well, maybe I do. Let’s just say it involved watercolour, coloured pencils and a bit of magic.

Let me try once again.

No one knows why the monsters were born. But straight away they started creating a world of their own, populating screens and surfaces. And getting hearts and smiles along the way.

This personal project was meant for the audience of 4-6 year olds exploring colours and emotions.

In an official beauty contest (judged by an honourable jury of children) Mr. Green and Pink had the strong lead. The adult panel voted nearly unanimously for Mr Purple as he looks serious, confident but also mischievous.

My personal favourites are Mrs Red and Miss Yellow. I might see them as myself on a good and bad day.

Which one will be your favourite?

Evidently, the monsters got out of the screen and became a part of my day-to-day.

Tasty Tidbits

Prawn Pasta Tasty Tidbits

One of my favourite easy and healthy recipes – prawn pasta – created on assignment for the School of Motion “Illustration for Motion” course.

Project: TastyTidbits, a food blog dedicated to sharing simple, healthy recipes for busy people was trying to reach a wider audience through social media. The client was looking to highlight the four main ingredients from various recipes through an Instagram carousel post. TastyTidbits wanted the style to feel fun, quirky and natural/handmade. The logo was provided.

Outcome: 5 illustrations featuring the dish and four individual images of highlighted ingredients. The project is created in Photoshop.

Normal Coffee

Illustration for motion

An idea for a short video spot and style frames created on assignment for a School of Motion course “Illustration for Motion”.

Project: Create style frames for an upcoming ad campaign for a new boutique coffee and doughnut shop called Normal Coffee. The script, logo and brand colours were provided. Initially, the client wanted for the frames to feature a male character but later he was changed to an African American female.

The original male character

Outcome: The story develops over five frames as the character who initially feels exhausted gets an instant energy boost after trying a doughnut in Normal Coffee. She feels uplifted and ready to fly. Or maybe hit the dance floor? It’s all goes down to getting back to NORMAL.

When your day is dragging….
…and you need a little pick-me-up…
…order it ahead..
…and get back on your feet!
Get back to NORMAL.
